War Ponies
20" x 20"
The bond between a warrior and his horse was held
sacred in Native American culture. A ring was painted around
the horse's eye to provide him with clear vision in battle and
to symbolize the spiritual unity between a warrior and his war
pony. The buffalo robe provides a pictorial history of tribal
life. The somber background of War Ponies sggests a warrior
and his horse readied for battle and prepared to die together.
